The food isn't more to my liking though, but the place is just very clean and very well supervised. I've seen many nursing homes, and if you need that type of help, I would say Berks Heim is one of the places you should go. I had a meeting the second day that he was in there already, and that was with all those three rehab people for him, as well as the dietician, the social worker, and the financial manager. Outside his window, there's a nice little garden outback.

They've done a good job of keeping my mom occupied, and she's more alert and awake now than she's been in months. The food is very good and they do a customized diet, not just a menu every day.

The staff are exceptional and she was always taken care of. I volunteer at this home for over 30 years and have found it very clean. Compared to other nursing homes in the area its it ranks number one in my book.

He told us that he couldn’t complain about any of the staff, they were friendly, caring and pleasant, he liked them all! As family we observed the same when visiting, the staff seem to truly enjoy their work and the patients in their care. Communication was great, staff contacted us on any concerns they had about Harry, and we could call with any questions we had. The only downfall was visiting, due to Covid you needed to make an appointment for a half hour visit, “ but we could visit” and they are doing the best they can to keep the Heim Covid free. My grandfather who suffered from Alzheimers was a resident of this home for many years. He was placed in the home due to the fact that my grandmother could no longer provide the care he needed.

Some of the positives of the stay for my grandfather was that he always looked well fed and hydrated. Did an acceptable job of caring for my grandfather, although I felt that the facility was understaffed and workers overworked. I dont envy their job, but I was glad to have them take care of my grandfather because he deserved the best. Facilities may be run by corporations, corporations that are not for profit, religious groups or the government. Quality can vary in nursing homes in each of the different kinds of nursing home ownership, and furthermore ownership is not a determining factor the level of quality at a facility.

They were consistently compassionate, considerate, respectful & supportive of the patients & went above & beyond to make families feel secure. They even sent a rep to my grandmother’s funeral to offer personal condolences. The final blow was they never attempted to call when grandmother’s vitals deteriorated to the end stage.

So, they're not off as far as the daily rate, which you're paying $415 a day plus extras. Nobody likes to pay that kind of money, but if you have to, I'd say the place is worth much more than some of the other facilities around here. The place is kept fairly clean, & there are a few excellent staff members, but the majority are disgruntled & rude.

Due to Covid, communication was key when we couldn’t tour or visit, but communication was the worst factor & never improved-only got brief phone check-ins about every other month. We never knew what to expect or what was truly happening until we could finally visit. The Case manager left, & we had to call months later to even find out the name of the new one. Every business made hard changes over the past couple years, deals with staffing issues, etc., but when a so-called care facility completely lacks care, that’s unacceptable. I offer plenty of grace for the staff’s challenges, but being disrespectful & dismissive for the few simple questions we asked to try & help…not justified. My other grandmother was in a Chester County nursing home this past year as well, & the situation was night & day, so it is a matter of expectation from top down.

We were in multiple times weekly, but if we hadn’t asked for hospice & had them call to say it was urgent, who knows how long staff at BH would have gone before even knowing she passed. We were never given a chance to be with her because of their laxness. She passed alone in the middle of the day & the head nurse told hospice they were “not aware of her status”.
